Plant In The Box is a U.S.–based premium houseplant gifting company. We deliver healthy, thoughtfully grown plants in protective packaging, paired with a modern digital gifting experience.

What makes your plant gifts unique?

Ordering & Gift Messaging

How do I place an order?

Start by choosing an individual plant gift box or subscription offering on our website. Select your plant, upgrade your pot and/or add a virtual gift message (optional), and complete checkout.

How do gift messages work?

Gift messages are delivered virtually via text and/or email. At checkout, you can write a personalized note and choose when you’d like it sent for a seamless, modern gifting experience. For step-by-step help, visit our Virtual Gift Message Guide.

Can I schedule a delivery date?

Most products do not offer a delivery date selector and ship once processed. Orders typically leave our greenhouse partners within 1–2 business days. Only select products include delivery scheduling, like our Perfectly Potted Plant Gift Box.

Will the recipient see the price?

No. We never include pricing or billing details in the box.

Do recipients know who sent the gift?

It’s up to you. Add your name in the virtual message—or keep the gift anonymous for surprises or Secret Santa exchanges. Packing slips do not include your billing information.

Where do you ship?

We ship nationwide within the United States, excluding Hawaii and Alaska.

How quickly do plants ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after purchase.

What shipping options do you offer?

We offer both Standard Shipping (estimated to arrive in 3–6 business days) and Expedited Shipping (estimated to arrive in 2–4 business days). You can choose the option that best fits your timeline during checkout.

How are plants packaged?

Plants are secured in durable, custom-fit boxes designed to protect foliage and prevent soil spillage while keeping the plant upright and stable during transit.

Do plants arrive safely?

Our packaging is engineered for safe travel. If your plant arrives damaged, contact us and we’ll help make it right.

Plant Sizes

How big are your plants?

Plant height varies by species, but sizing is based on nursery pot size – Baby (2" pot), Mini (3" pot), Small (4" pot), Medium (6" pot), Large (8" pot), X-Large (10" pot). See our Nursery Pot Size Guide for additional info.

What does “nursery pot size” mean?

The nursery pot size refers to the diameter of the pot the plant is grown in. A Medium plant has a pot measuring 6 inches across the top, indicating its fullness and maturity.

Pot Upgrades

What happens when I upgrade my pot?

When you choose a pot upgrade, we fully repot your plant into the selected eco-friendly vessel crafted from recycled plastic & stone. We top it off with preserved decorative moss for a clean, gift-ready look.

Does the plant arrive already potted?

Yes. Upgraded orders arrive fully repotted and ready to display immediately.

Do you provide plant care instructions?

What if my plant looks stressed after arrival?

Can I cancel or change my order?

Orders are immediately sent to our greenhouses for fulfillment and cannot be canceled. However, we can update the shipping address before shipment—contact us right away if you need to make a change.

What should I do if something arrives damaged or incorrect?

Contact us with photos and your order information, and our team will help resolve the issue.
