Shipping can be tiring for a living plant. These four steps are safe for nearly every plant we send.
Gently remove the sleeve and the natural wood strands covering the soil; the strands prevent soil from spilling in transit. If an upgraded pot includes a decorative moss topper, it may stay in place or be removedâeither is fine.
Do not water automatically. Feel the soil first and follow your plantâs guide.
A spot near a window, protected from strong direct sun, is a good temporary home.
Minor drooping or a few imperfect leaves after transit can be normal. Avoid repotting right away.

Quick answers
A plant can look different after traveling in a dark box. Start with these common questions before changing its care routine.
Give it bright, indirect light and 24 to 48 hours to adjust. Check the soil before watering; both dry and overly wet soil can cause drooping.
Not automatically. Feel the top inch or two of soil first, then use your plantâs specific guide. Overwatering is harder to correct than waiting another day.
No. Keep the plant in its nursery pot and place it inside the decorative pot so excess water can drain. Decorative moss may remain on top or be removed if you prefer.
Small bends or cosmetic damage do not usually affect the plantâs health. If the plant is heavily damaged, photograph the plant and packaging and contact us promptly.
Arrive Safe Guarantee
Please report the problem within 24 hours of delivery so our Customer Care team can review it. Keep the plant and all packaging until the review is complete.
Include your order number and a brief explanation of what happened.
Include the entire plant or product, close-ups of the damage, and the box with its shipping label.
Please hold onto everything until we finish reviewing your claim. Late or incomplete claims may not qualify.
If your claim is approved, we may provide a replacement, a comparable substitute, store credit, or a partial refund for the affected item. The resolution depends on the circumstances and product availability.
Minor leaf loss, temporary wilting, loose soil, small tears, bent leaves, and similar cosmetic shipping stress generally are not covered unless they seriously threaten the plantâs survival. Original and expedited shipping charges are generally nonrefundable.
Send a photo and tell us what youâre noticing. Plant In The Box Customer Care will help you figure out the next step.
